Dell India makes a total corporate donation worth $ 250,000 in aid of Uttrakhand flood victims through Oxfam India

As part of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Dell India, the IT giant in the country has come forward to strengthen Oxfam India’s relief and rehabilitation work in the flood ravaged Uttrakhand region with a contribution of $ 220,000.

The donation has enabled Oxfam India to reach out to 12,000 affected people, in 2,000 households across 25 villages. The relief effort includes providing shelter, water sanitation and hygiene support, emergency food supply and also the initiation of cash for work in the affected areas of Uttarakhand, according to a company statement.

What is more, Dell employees have made a contribution of $ 27,000, towards the relief effort in Uttarakhand. This contribution was facilitated by a disaster relief programme established under Dell Powering the Possible, Dell’s umbrella CSR program. Dell is determined to help communities get back on their feet and has demonstrated its commitment by making a matching grant for every contribution made by employees, dollar for dollar, noted the statement.
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, President Dell India and Executive Sponsor of Dell Powering the Possible for India said: “At this difficult point in time, our thoughts are with the victims of the flash floods and all those who have been affected by the tragedy. Dell remains committed to supporting relief and rehabilitation efforts in the region through our Powering the Possible programme and lending our expertise in any way possible".
Elaborating on the relief efforts Nisha Agrawal, CEO Oxfam India, added: “Oxfam India is grateful to Dell India and its employees for extending their support at this crucial juncture. Being a focus state for Oxfam India, our work in Uttarakhand goes beyond relief to sustainability and livelihood creation. It is only with the support of corporates like Dell that we can expand our reach and create a larger, more long lasting impact".

Snap Fitness Marathon 2013 oranised in Bangalore in aid of Uttarakhand flood victims

Bangalore witnessed a remarkable participation of all segments of people at the marathon held for the rehabilitation of Uttarakhand landslide victims.

The marathon started from Freedom Park at 6.00 AM for 10 k run and 6:30 for 5 k run. The goal of the marathon was to raise funds and awareness to help people who have been hit by the natural disaster and to assist them in rebuilding their lives, according to a Snap Fitness India statement.

 
All funds raised by the marathon will be passed on to those in need in the form of donations through an NGO. The marathon will not only sensitise local residents about their community and help to raise funds for a charitable organisation, but will also promote awareness for good health and fitness at the same time, noted the statement.

The winners of the marathon were awarded with rupees ten thousand and rupees five thousand respectively in their categories.
